Short résumé

I hold an engineering degree in Automatic Control and Production Science from ENSIEG, INPG, a Master of Science in the same field and a PhD degree in Robust Scheduling. I defended an Habilitation à diriger des recherches in September 2012, on networks optimization.

I am full professor of Computer Science at LAMSADE, Université Paris Dauphine - PSL, France, since 2018. I am currently co-head of MIDO, the Mathematics and Computer Science department of Université Paris Dauphine - PSL. Before that, I was full professor of Operations Research at the Computer Science Department of Université d'Angers, France, from 2015 to 2018. Previously, I was Associate Professor at Université de Bretagne-Sud in Lorient, France, from 2005 to 2015 and served as an invited professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences in University of Hyderabad, India, in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.

Research

Overview

My main scientific interests are in Operations research, with a special focus on networks design, and optimization under uncertainty. I am currently involved in the development of hybrid algorithms that combine metaheuristics with exact approaches, and in the design of survivable, resilient and robust solutions, that implement different strategies to cope with uncertainty.

Research groups

I am a member of the French OR society ROADEF, and former project leader for GT-"Optimisation pour les Systèmes Intégrés", funded by GDR RO, CNRS.

Doctoral supervision

My former PhD students are: Dr. Aïssam Belabbas (2004-2007), Dr. María Soto (2008-2011), Dr. Boureima Zerbo (2008-2012), Dr. Alain Bignon (2009-2012), Dr. Fabián Castaño (2011-2014), Dr. Charly Lersteau (2013-2016), Dr. Erwan Moréac (2014-2017), Dr. Aleksandr Pirogov (2016-2019), Dr. Florian Delavernhe (2017-2020), and Dr. Julien Khamphousone (2020-2023).

PhD thesis offer

A PhD thesis position is available in my team (at LAMSADE, Université Paris Dauphine - PSL), it deals with network desing and the use of decomposition-based approaches for a resilience response to uncertainty, starting in October 2024. Potential candidates with a master or engineering degree in Operations Research and/or Computer Science are kindly requested to send me their CV, and a few elements on why they are interested in this research topic.

Teaching

I have been responsible of the first year master program Informatique Décision et Données at the MIDO Department of Université Paris Dauphine - PSL from 2018 to 2022. I have been head of the Computer Science Departement in the Faculty of Sciences of Université d'Angers from 2017 to 2018, and I was in charge of the PluriPASS program for Computer Science in Université d'Angers. Previously, I was responsible for an adult education master's degree program in Production Science (Master GPP) from 2008 to 2015 in Université de Bretagne-Sud, where I was also head of the Engineering Production Department at ENSIBS from 2012 to 2015.

Present classes (Université Paris Dauphine - PSL)

Past classes (Université de Bretagne-Sud / ENSIBS / Université d'Angers / Université Paris Dauphine - PSL / New York University Paris)

Miscellaneous

I am fluent in French(!), I speak Italian and English.

I highly recommend watching You and Your Research by Richard Hamming, and reading Revival of the Gomory cuts in the 1990's by Gérard Cornuéjols.

The blog of Paul Rubin is also quite interesting OR in an OB World.

My favorite summer festivals: Festival d'Avignon Off and Chorégies d'Orange.
