SHORT BIO
Rüdiger Schultz is Professor for Discrete Mathematics and Optimization with the
Faculty of Mathematics, University of Duisburg-Essen. Professor Schultz received
his Diploma and PhD degrees in Mathematics from Humboldt-University Berlin. At
the same university he was awarded the Venia Legendi in 1996. Before joining in
1998 as Full Professor (C4) the University of Duisburg-Essen (then
Gerhard-Mercator University Duisburg) he was a Research Assistant with the Zuse-Center
Berlin (ZIB) and an Associate Professor (C3) with the University of Leipzig. His
research interests include optimization under uncertainty, combinatorial
optimization, and industrial applications, the latter in particular in the power
and gas industries. He has published more than 60 research papers and served on
various program committees of conferences and editorial boards of research
journals. Currently he is Area Editor for
Linear and Stochastic Optimization with Operations Research Letters and
editorial board member with EURO Journal on Computational Optimization,
Mathematical Methods of Operations Research, RAIRO Operations Research,
Stochastic Programming E-Prints-Series, and Vietnam Journal of Mathematics.
