A short summary of the scientific achievements of the STSM
This STSM visit was motivated by the visitors and the hosts’, in particular prof. Ivan Chorbev’s, joint research interest on data mining techniques, theory and applications.
The visitor gave 9.th of February a 2 hour lecture on the GUHA data mining method explaining some theoretical aspects and open problems of this data mining approach. Moreover, the visitor illustrated the GUHA theory by demonstration LISpMiner software, an implementation of GUHA theory. LISpMiner software is freely down loadable software developed at the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic. The lecture collected about 40 persons belonging to the faculty personal, post-graduate students and under graduate students.
At the host university, there are at present two students preparing their diploma work on the GUHA method as part of their university degree. The visitor had several long lasting discussions with these students and with their local supervisor Prof. Chorbev. These discussions deepen the scientific co-operation of the two parties, who agreed about a future student and researcher exchange.
The visitor also acted as an external examiner of a diploma work student who graduated during the STSM visit.
