I lead the Polyhedral and Combinatorial Optimization (POC) group of ROADEF and GDR RO at the national level, along with a steering committee. The POC group aims to promote polyhedral methods in combinatorial optimization in France. It was created around the JPOC (Polyhedral and Combinatorial Optimization Days). The group carries out several activities. It organizes every year:
- the JPOC days which aim to bring together industrial and academic researchers in the field of polyhedra and combinatorial optimization. These days also provide an opportunity for participants to establish links for exchange and collaboration. They are organized over two and a half days and bring together between 60 and 80 participants. After the JPOC in Clermont in 2003 and those in 2005 in Marseille, these days are now organized every year. They were held in Avignon in 2006, in Evry in 2007, in Rouen in 2008 and in Bordeaux in 2009. They will be organized in Valenciennes in 2011.
- a 16-hour mini-course over two days preceding the JPOC. The mini-courses are aimed in particular at doctoral students and young researchers, and cover themes of combinatorial optimization,
(In 2010, the JPOC and the mini-course were organized within the framework of the international conference on combinatorial optimization ISCO, Hammamet, Tunisia, March 2010,)
- POC scientific days (JSPOC) which are biannual specific research days (twice a day). They are organized around well-targeted topics in combinatorial optimization. They provide in particular the opportunity to discuss open problems. Some problems have been resolved following these days,
- international workshops and conferences . In 2008, the POC group organized the international workshop « Pretty Structure, Existential Polytime, Polyhedral Combinatorics”, April 7, 8, & 9, 2009, Paris, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Jack Edmonds. More than 120 participants from several countries participated.
And in 2010, he co-organized the International
« International Symposium on Combinatorial Optimization » (ISCO), with the Tunisian Management Society, held from March 24-26 in Hammamet, Tunisia. Around 240 researchers participated in the conference, and 200 presentations were delivered.
The JPOC and ISCO conferences will alternate and will now be held biannually.
Les conférences JPOC et ISCO alterneront et seront dorénavant bi-annuelle.
- sessions at conferences. Every year, the POC group organizes 3-4 sessions at the ROADEF conference.
